You have: a cute independent coffee shop- oh, make that two, (one of which turns into a cute little bar at night, complete with ice cream). Several acclaimed restaurants (Bistro 33, 718, etc), a few solid bars within walking distance that are not home to dodgy old men who eye you suspiciously (Sparrow, McCanns). More sushi than you can blink at, not to mention Thai, Spanish, etc. Cute clothing stores (Blossom, Kristees). Not to mention Steinway for more mainstream stuff (and more tube tops than you can shake a stick at). Sigh. Some days I miss Astoria...

Come live in my hood for a day. Ha! Though, we went to the cutest little art-y bar the other day. The next time you're by, we'll have to go. Oh, and we kick your ass at the pinkberry-style yogurt. We're getting another one up by the 82nd street station!

And where is Lisa commuting from exactly? Canada?amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10978059909146030765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23687811.post-90323301136553499272008-03-24T09:45:00.000-04:002008-03-24T09:45:00.000-04:00A pilates studio? A kitschy boutique selling overpriced novelty salt and pepper shakers in the shape of gnomes next to notebooks made from 60s era junior high school sex education manuals?

Haha, yes, that is exactly what gentrification is!

Also, yeah, Astoria isn't yet full of the urban hipster pretension yet. Claim to hate the pretension of Williamsburg! You won't convince me to love Queens, though, because seriously... such a long commute to work.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07850950399622401385noreply@blogger.com
